About
I'm Casey Chevalier, a senior infrastructure and database engineer based in Colorado. I grew up in Ridgway and earned a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Colorado Boulder.
Over the past decade I've worked across database platforms, cloud infrastructure, and production operations, helping organizations design and operate reliable systems at scale. My experience spans PostgreSQL, SQL Server, AWS, automation, observability, disaster recovery, and performance engineering. While databases have been a major focus of my career, I'm equally interested in the broader challenges of infrastructure, reliability, and building systems that remain understandable as they grow.
I enjoy solving operational problems, automating repetitive work, and creating tools that make complex systems easier to reason about. Projects like PlanForge grew out of that curiosity: taking something that can feel opaque and turning it into something easier to understand.
Outside of work, I spend time with my wife and son, play guitar and synthesizer, bike around Colorado, cook (especially pizza), read history and science fiction, and explore retro computing and game development.
What I care about
- Reliability-first engineering and calm incident response
- Automation that reduces operational toil
- Clear documentation, runbooks, and knowledge sharing
- Designing systems that scale predictably and are easy to maintain
- Continuous learning and thoughtful experimentation
